When many people think about the legal field, they automatically think about lawyers. However, there are many careers in the legal field that do not require that you earn a law degree. Below are four of the career options that you have if you to work in the legal field: 

Legal Secretary

You can become a legal secretary without even earning a college degree. A legal secretary is someone who is responsible for performing clerical duties inside of a law firm, such as answering emails, phone calls, scheduling appointments and preparing court papers. You will need to have a high school diploma or GED if you want to become a legal secretary.

Although it is not required, you may also want to become a certified legal secretary. You will need to pass an examination that is given by Legal Secretaries International or National Association of Legal Secretaries in order to become certified. Furthermore, you should be able to type at least 65 words per minute if you to work as a legal secretary. 


Paralegal is one of the most popular job choices in the legal field. Paralegals are also known as legal assistants. They work alongside attorneys.
